Summer isn't over yet, so those shorter hemlines can stick around a little while longer. For those of us who live in parts of the planet where we really only get 3-4 months of warm/hot weather, having summer pieces that can be styled multiple ways is key. I make it a point to look for items I can wear on their own in the summer, and with layers as it gets cooler. But as much as these items need to be able to be worn in any weather, I also look for summer items that can be worn multiple ways IN THE SUMMER - obvs!

Here are some pieces that work great for summer, and for the rest of the year.

We've talked about this before, but a basic white tee is an absolute closet staple. No matter what your style, whether you like color or neutrals, whether you dress up for work or not - a white tee is a MUST. I can't think of anything a white tee doesn't go with. This one from Blank is not only incredibly soft, but it's a touch more formal than an oversized version. The ribbed detail gives it some texture (always a plus) and the neckline is appropriate for any event. Dress this bad boy up or down - you really can't go wrong.

Another super versatile piece. I styled a gray option here, but black, white or cream are equally as rotational. I would actually argue that having a tank in all of those colors is essential - endless options! Neutral tanks are great basics for playing up the rest of your outfit and/or accessories. Sometimes you just need a blank slate for your other #OOTD items, and a neutral tank allows you to balance out a look with more "fun" or "fancy" bottoms.

Okay, hear me out on this one. By light colored leggings I mean any light colors that aren't your exact skin tone LOL - let's not make it look like we're naked, mmkay? But for real - I've been seeing white leggings everywhere and I think they're super chic. Much like a white tee or tank creates a neutral palette for accessorizing, white leggings do the same. Wear a patterned top, colorful sneakers, or just rock them like you would white denim!
